Growing vegetable for fun

Day 1: 9th Sep, 2012

Gardeners' Day Out event at HortPark yesterday.

Inspired by Gardeners' Day Out event at HortPark, today we bought two plastic plant pots, two big packs of soil, a pack of chinese flowering cabbage seed (油菜心), and started to grow our own vegetable in our house.

In one of the pots, we sowed some seeds in one of the pot and wait for it to sprout.

Day 5: 13th Sep, 2012

The sprouts have came out, with little green leaves.

Day 15: 23rd Sep, 2012

The sprouts have grown taller and are ready to be planted in other pots so that they have bigger spacing among them.

This is one of the pots in which we re-planted the sprouts with bigger spacing among them. We also put in more soil for the root to grow.

We have two of such pots.

We put the pots at the corridor where there is good sun light.

Now, we just have to wait another 20 days to harvest.

Day 36: 15th Oct, 2012

Probably due to lack of sun light, the plants didn't grow big as we have expected. We therefore moved the plants to another location where there is sun light around noon time. Hopefully the plants will grow faster at this new location.

Day 44: 23rd Oct, 2012

The plants still doesn't grow taller and bigger after 44 days. What's wrong with them?
I added some organic fertilizer today.

Day 89: 27th Nov, 2012

The leaves are shrinking fast and turn yellowish, a sign that the plants is going to die. What's wrong with the plants?

I declare the trial a failure.
